Two suspects, aged 22 and 38, have been apprehended by members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) for their involvement in drug dealing. They are currently behind bars, awaiting their upcoming court appearance.
On the morning of Wednesday, October 11, 2023, the Provincial Crime Intelligence Narcotics team received a tip-off about individuals who were transporting drugs from Gauteng to Polokwane. In a swift response, officers tracked the suspects to an estate in Ivydale, Polokwane.
Upon searching their vehicle, officers discovered crystal methamphetamine with an estimated street value of R80,000. The 38-year-old Nigerian man and his 22-year-old South African girlfriend were taken into custody, and both the drugs and the vehicle were confiscated for further investigation.
The two suspects are presently detained in jail and are scheduled to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Friday, October 13, 2023, to face charges related to drug dealing. Ongoing investigations will continue to shed more light on the case.
